An Ounce of Prevention… The Answer
Last week, I asked my readers to finish the following phrase.
An ounce of prevention is….
The complete phrase is “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
I first heard it as a child, though I don’t remember who first said in my hearing.
What it means is that a little bit of caution in avoiding problems is worth a whole lot of repair work after a problem has been realized.
Taking a little time to think through things before making a decision AND making the correct decision is a lot better than rushing a decision and having to deal with a bad decision later.
Or, a personal favorite…. Taking a little time washing glasses is worth more than a lot of stitching. Trust me. I know! Don’t believe me? Check out In Stitches.
It’s more a philosophy of life than a truism, though it is also a truism. Sadly, I don’t see much of this philosophy in modern day life.
