A Lenten Project

One of my favorite writing things to do each year is collecting, setting up and producing our congregational Lenten devotions book.

It hardly seems possible, but according to my records, 2009 will be the fourth year for this particular project.

The process is fairly simple. Our congregation is largely made up of retired pastors and missionaries who have served all over the world. There are also many talented and insightful members from other walks of life. Each year, a theme is set for the devotional and members contribute a daily devotional. I even write one or two myself.

This year’s theme is Resurrection.

My primary task is laying out the devotional, organizing the devotions, then producing the master copy.

This year, I also will be in charge of cover art and production.

But I also get to write something. Icing on the cake!

Up until this year, this has been the about only area in which I have been able to utilize the gifts God has given me for writing and I have looked forward to it with enthusiasm. It is a project that combines talents in art and writing, as well as computer skills and organizational skills among other things.

Other writing may have to take a back seat for a week or so, but that’s all right. Breaks are good!

As always, thank you for reading and best wishes!
